Work-Life Balance Training Course

About This Project

During my job search I noticed that many e-learning and instructional design positions wanted their employees to have experience working with Articulate Storyline 360. I used a free trial of the software to become familiar with the course builder and gain some experience. I used a topic I worked with during my Girl Scouts of West Central Florida Internship to build the content for the course.

Design Process

The first step in the development of the course was choosing a course topic. I used the Articulate Storyline 360 library for inspiration and decided to design a training on a common workplace topic, work-life balance. This was one of the topics that I worked with when working for Girl Scouts so had already done some research and had a starting point.

Research

Once I had my topic I began my research on how to use the Storyline 360 software. I used the E-Learning Heroes Community Pages for help, as well as several youtube channels. I found it easier to build my original presentation on Canva and then upload that to Storyline. Once I had my outline I used the Storyline Articulate Examples as a guide for how I wanted to structure my course. When I ran into issues or needed help I was able to use the course or the internet to find the answer.

Triggers, Buttons, and Text

The most challenging thing about using Storyline is getting to understand the process using triggers and buttons to navigate the course. This course was very basic and was intended to help me become more skilled in using Storyline. I hope to be able to continue working with the software and building more advance E-Learning. My favorite thing that I discovered was being able to add the text entry field that allowed learners to insert their name. This added an interactive element and personalization aspect that I strive for in my designs.
